Textbooks have been assigned.  The textbook is not available online, nor do we have extra textbooks to provide for students who "don't like to carry them," may lose them, or would like a classroom copy and a home copy.  Later in the year, textbooks will be taken up and supplemental texts (like To Kill a Mockingbird and Fahrenheit 451 will be distributed).

ANNOUNCEMENTS

PROGRESS REPORTS: Distributed twice EACH quarter. Last distribution:  October 14, 2009.

Contests:

Remember:  Studying each night for 10-15 minutes (per subject) even when there is no homework is far more effective than waiting until the night before a quiz or test to read and study for the first time.  Ask yourself/your child what study methods are being used, such as 2-column notes, flashcards, making your own quiz, graphic organizer, quadrant writing (where you describe/explain/compare/contrast), etc.  Often looking at the pages of books and notes without actively engaging is not effective.  Here's a sheet for reading/taking notes that asks you to reflect.  Taking Notes.doc
